The Sydney University Women's Rowing Club focuses on 'Intermediate' development, 'Masters' Rowing and a 'High Performance' squad.  See below for more information on each category.  If you require further information please contact the club with your queries.

Intermediate & High Performance Squads

Sydney University Women’s Rowing Club is currently targeting school graduates to come and join the club program.  All rowers with previous experience are encouraged to make this transition from school rowing, and SUWRC strives to make this as smooth as possible for new athletes.

Initial entry into the Club will have athletes training out of the Glebe Shed, at the end of Ferry Road on Blackwattle Bay.  It is a neighbouring suburb of Sydney University making it an ideal place to row for its students.

There is a great community of intermediate rowers at the Glebe Shed with frequent opportunities to train in various crew boats in addition to the single scull.  This is the opportunity to acquire the skills needed to row the range of boats available in the sport.

The club not only introduces athletes to racing at Club regattas, but also provides a healthy environment of team dynamics within the shed, and hence the subsequent social opportunities outside of training hours, be it breakfast up on Glebe Point Road at one of the café’s or deli’s, or a night out in celebration.

Athletes are encouraged to express their goals with the coaches as to whether they aspire to row at an elite level, or simply as a casual member - in it to be part of a team and get the blood circulating at 5:30am!

For those who would like to pursue rowing competitively, there are opportunities to race in the NSW Rowing regatta calendar throughout the year, with the two main regattas being the NSW State and National Championships.  The top eight athletes of the Women’s Rowing Club training in Sydney have the option to train out of the High Performance Shed located on the Lane Cove River where they train alongside the Sydney University Boat Club's (men's rowing) High Performance Squad.  This is to encourage a community of athletes with similar goals, located on the Lane Cove River which can accommodate longer workload pieces due to the lack of ferries and more sheltered stretches of water.

Regattas exclusive to University students include:

|  Australia vs New Zealand Universities Trans-Tasman Challenge, held in July for 2010

|  Australian University Games/Championships, held annually in September during mid-semester break.
